Haven't been around for awhile. So, we have a new Polymoog VSTi in the works? I take it this time round, it's not a sample based effort?

It is DSP, and it is being lovingly tweaked on as we speak.

What is "Scope"?

You've got me thinking here.. Why doesn't someone have a go at a SCOPE-based pmk/s ? Prolly because no-one who develops for Scope has a Polymoog. One developer who has a CAT did his version, the C4T.

This is Scope. A DSP based card (hence the confusion with using the term DSP for a VSTi). Some plug-ins available: ProdysseyMinimaxProfit 5B-2003proToneModular IIIand that's just the synths. There's mixers, samplers and things that i don't even have a name for. If you ever want a demo Tokyo just PM me (i'm in London too).

As the guy developing the VSTi, I must admit to being both too cheap and otherwise lazy to invest in a whole card.

Anyone any idea what happened to this ?

What is happening is that the guy who is working on it is a student and has to balance this project with his studies. The beta is already done and sounds great (much better than samples it has to be said) but there are a few bugs that need fixing before we can release it. Just annoying stuff like it forgetting its patches on re-boot, that kind of shit.

the only bad thing is that i've made around 60 or so patches for this thing and don't think they will make the crossover to the last build....

Are you sure mate? I'm sure we could find a way to fix that.

Is Numan interested in using this if there's a PP tour ? I didn't go to Telekon/Replicas as I don't really like nostalgia, but to hear the Polymoog REALLY FUCKING LOUD would just be ace.

Having read Numans latest interview He's clearly a little conflicted about the PP tour. He seems reconciled to the fact he's got to do it........ sometime.......... for the dosh if nothing else. But he has about as much enthusiasm for it as he would for being taken anally by a psychotic bull elephant. I almost feel sorry for him to be honest. (and thats a change of heart).

If Gary wasn't releasing such shite like Jagged, then he wouldn't need to do classic album tours. I'm looking forward to the PP tour. Although, on saying that, Gary will probably make an arse of it by using some awful digital synth sounds. The Replicas and Telekon gigs were great but can't help thinking they could have been even better if Gary had made more of an effort on the synth patches.

Hello, guys. Work continues. What happened to voxnumana's build is that it's just too bloody complicated to work on without pulling my hair out in the process of getting at the problems inherent to it's design. (I started out being curious about Dave Luce, then I hated him, now I sound like the guy.)
The only way to avoid another spaghetti-fest (most of what I do involves interconnections between various groups of modules and the current build is disastrously tangled) in a fresh build is to slowly go through each component in a pad-and-pencil planning phase (I'm doing this right now) and familiarize myself with what exactly is needed for each thing to do is job.
Once that's done, I'll build the thing and it will work with much less CPU than the current version gobbles up. Furthermore, all of the functions will work properly no matter how you approach them, instead of the "this button only does something when you jiggle this other slider, and if there's a pedal involved and you don't have one, you're screwed" dodginess I haven't been able to iron out of it.
All I can say is, this HAS to be a labor of love. The hypothetical money I'll make off a finished product no longer justifies the amount of skull-sweat I'm pouring into it. Nevertheless if I should finish it, I'll have learned most of what I'll need to know to make more quirky emulative softsynths and make some money and get some recognition as well.
I've got no time table. I'm moving in the next few months and I'll be plugging out what I can on my spare time when it comes. I'll chime in again when I've made progress.
Later, guys!
