Yeah prices just seem to be going up and up. Noticed a pro one up on eBay at the moment for about 860quid and a cr-78 plus ws-1 for 1450quid- it didn't sell though so in 5 years what will the prices be? Minimoog vs voyager wonder what the real difference is?

Never played a Voyager, though do recall the Sound on Sound review of the Voyager Old School, which concluded this is basically a v. nice sounding synth, but doesn't (and probably wasn't meant to) sound like a Minimoog Mod. D. I have a Moog Little Phatty, but that for instance doesn't sound like a equivalent vintage 2 oscilltor Moog, such as the Moog Prodigy or Rogue (which I once owned and don't recall sounding that good). Best Model D emulation i've heard is the Arturia Origin, which genuinely nails the Model D, it's very mellow, "woody" and rich sounding. I don't own one, but i hear the Creamware Minimax is pretty spot on too.

Did you mean the Prodigy or the Rogue didn't sound good? My first synth was a Rogue, bought for £50 second hand between 15-20 years ago. Unfortunately it's still mislaid somewhere, I liked the overdrive option it had.
It's surprising the main synth manufacturers (like Korg, don't have more analogue monphonic synths in their lineups? (apart from the mopho keyboard version and little phatty). Are there many others?

If you're going down the VA route I don't see the point of making monophony anything other than a selectable option.

True, but I meant real analogue not VA There's many new VA coming like the Roland Sh01 Gaia (though that is poly,)

I have the Sonic|Core Minimax and it is by far the best sounding Moog emu - the Arturia stuff is lifeless to me, I really did not like their Mini (tried the demo side-by-side withe the Minimax).

I hear DSI are bringing out a Mopho keyboard version, so the SC Pro-one lives on!

Boss DR-55 - 179 Euros!Final proof, if any was needed. Boss DR-55 - 179 Euros.. I used to buy these for £20. Yes, I know it's Kozz_vintage, and they're always over the top, but bloody hell.. (I have a minter, with box, manuals, pattern book, and everything. Not for sale.)

Someone needs to report that one for excessive shipping. I shipped an ARP Axxe to the UK for only $125US, and that was UPS also. If I recall correctly, the Axxe was just a little bit bigger and heavier than the DR-55... #mazin#

Yes, these are just a couple examples of the blatant profiteering that's happening on ebay. However, they are rarely successful. They are simply fishing for the few desperate people who want something so badly that money is no longer an object.

Another case in point - look at how this wreck is going... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150430584427&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:GB:1123yeah, i know ARP Quadra's are pretty rare, but i also hear these are v.high maintenance like Polymoogs - if the key bank membranes are shot, i understand these are virtually a right off, the divide down architecture has the same issue of multiple diodes per key as per Omni's which are a bitch of a job to replace, and on top of this, this one will need the keyboard stripping and god knows how many other issues. I would have been tempted at about £200 max!

I was one of the early bidders on that auction, and knowing what I would have to do to get it working given the condition it is currently, I wouldn't have paid more than $150 for it, even if it was the holy grail itself...

Breaking news - Minimoog now £10k, ARP2600 £17k! Wow, lets all rush and Buy, Buy, Buy! Am i being naive, but why are both these 3x, 4x higher than even the most expensive examples of either synths i've ever seen on ebay? Did Jesus play this Minimoog?
