Yes YES I've turned a corner. Good news! ;D I'm making incremental progress i.e. I've got a (very) few cool sounds together and the skeleton of a promising vibe, but no structure yet. Got an intro, an outro, just the bit in the middle to figure out I'd kill for a good vocalist I spend too much time staring at a screen anyway so when the chance comes I tend to scarper. Take last Sunday for instance - had every intention of spending all day in here working on the track but it was a crisp fresh day so I said "f*ck it" and took the Mini (Cooper, not Moog) for a blast up the coast to where my good lady had taken our young 'un, Basil. And here's a pic I took of them both to prove it (Okay not the most obvious photo for a synth forum but what the hell. Oh and my wife hasn't really got square norks That's a body-protector-thingy under that jacket there! )

Unless some minor miracle happens and I get some time to spare over the next few weeks it looks highly unlikely that I'll be able to meet this deadline. I haven't added a thing to my initial backdrop in weeks and it wasn't exactly convenient to choose this month for a total studio refit either!

I was going to announce this rule nearer the deadline but looks like now is the right time... Rule: All tracks submitted on the deadline (whether finished or unfinished) will be admitted to the next stage. The next stage is the final stage with the final deadline...
This current stage is the development stage.
The point of this rule is to not turn this into a chore or a pressure thing. If it stops being fun then why are we doing it? Also WHATEVER you have submitted must be what you carry on building on in the next stage, even if you stripe it back massively.

Sorry if I am being thick but the deadline of 14th Feb - is that the final deadline or the dealine for the next stage? If it is for the next stage, when is the final deadline for complete & finished submissions

O.K... 14.02.06 is deadline to submit your track this completes end of stage one.
I had this rule in mind all along because in the previous "compos" on afenet people either got put off or were busy at the particular time of the compo. Rather than having one long stage whereby we all tend to not get round to it til its too late at which point it usually coincides with being busy.By having 2 stages you can pace yourself, stage 1 get some ideas down.Stage to refine it ,reconstruct it etc but mainly keep the whole thing enjoyable to do.
If everyone had been on schedule I would have left the original deadline as this extra rule only has a purpose in the right circumstances (like now).
Stage two(the final deadline) ends on 26.03.06 at 11pm

Hi guys - Sorry I missed out on this one. To be honest I'm not a big Kraftwerk fan and I don't want to embarass myself!!
If I do anything in the next week or so it will be Trans Europe Express but don't wait up.
Cheers

It's got potential, the rhythm track could develop well. The synths are a bit midi preset-ish at the moment but no problem to change. I hope you finish it as you did some great Numan covers previously.I'm already wondering what you will do for the "spokals" on this one...

Probably nothing mate as I don't have the system set up yet (sorry Dubs) for my vocals...D'oh.
Glad you like the rhythm. I did it myself and I'm not the best at drums (again...shaun is 'Da Man' for that)...I know what you mean about the main synth sound...I binned the one I used previously.I have a busy weekend ahead but will muckabout with it.
Of course, if someone wants the .wav files, they can always add the spokals for me??

Yeah good rhythm ;D Especialy if you built it up yourself. Don't put yourself down mate, mine sounded bare at first, but keep at it & it will build up into a cool track. If you've done this "off the cuff" from memory so far then thats extra coool

Id like to enter my kraftwerk track but im not sure if it fits the rules or not (no i havent read those last 5 pages of posts). Its gonna be Europe Endless mixed in with A N Other track by another electro/popular/madman artist. Is this allowed? Is it crucial that i have to submit a work in progress on 14th feb? Because i dont like people hearing my stuff until its finished.

Hello Gav! Quick summary of the rules: No techno trance clappy club mix type tracks That's the only inflexible rule!
14.02.06 was 40 day first end point .You only need upload a snippet of the intro even, this rule is flexible especially for late comers.
Combining 2 tracks together sounds interesting what's the other track and what's the Kraftwerk track? I guess the only problem might be hosting if it has samples from the original...

It most deffo wont be a trance club track! There wont be any samples and the Kraftwerk track will be Europe Endless. (MInd you ive only just played through the bass tab so i dont even know if its gonna be a success or not).
