anybody able to make me a copy and what will it take to get it? Send me your address! BTW, this outtakes thing is a misconception. Some fans also refer to it as "the PP sessions" as well. Both wrong! What it is is the original multi-track tapes for the B-side of the album being run through the mixing desk and the levels of the various instruments being adjusted, grouped and soloed. This could very well be just a cassette reference recording of the actual mixing session but others have claimed that it was part of the Zeus B Held "Cars E-Reg Model" remix session in 1987. To support this, someone seems to be throwing an out of time digital delay across the drums which doesn't seem to fit with 1979 technology and there is the fact that this tape "suddenly" surfaced around the late '80's! However... it could equally be argued that why would they be pissing around with Tracks, Observer, Conversation etc when they were supposed to be remixing Cars??? Whatever it is, its a great tape and gives a great fly on the wall picture of how this album was constructed.

its a great tape and gives a great fly on the wall picture of how this album was constructed. I agree. I learned, for instance, that there's a rim shot doubling up the handclaps in Cars - nice trick I intend to try. Also just how solid Paul Gardner was, exposed, as it were. Also, how it really is all "in the mix"

What it is is the original multi-track tapes for the B-side of the album being run through the mixing desk and the levels of the various instruments being adjusted, grouped and soloed. It's weird though, how it is all tracks from the "B" side - never noticed that before. It is unlikely that they were recorded onto the multitrack in that order. Usually the selection of track order is thrashed out much later, probably with input from Beggars, particuarly that early in the career.
