Hi Well, I finished my Air(p)lane track. Again, it's a rip-off from the original only with extra bum notes. It was just interesting for me to understand the song construction. Comments welcome: www.markreeman.co.uk/Airlane.mp3Now I'm inspired to write my own track based on the this style and sound...

Well the Polymoog lead is completely wrong but do ya know what i liked it. If it was deliberate then you were clever and if it was accident then you were lucky. Different notes and different timing there. Not a bad Polymoog sound either for a vsti. The bass synth needs more power in the mix though. can hardly hear it and it's very distinctive on the original. brought a smile to my face anyway

Hang on minute - that's a software Polymoog yeah? That's bloody good that is! How'd you do it? I know you know the track isn't 'right', and the main reason is because is because you're playing all the note changes on the beat, whereas they tend to be on the off beat (or halfway between beats, or summat, I'm no musician ). That's making it seem to plod a bit. Er yeah, few bum notes too But as a framework sound to jump off into your own stuff, hell yeah! You'll never find anyone round here complaining about overuse of Polymoogs (or Polymoogalikes) ;D

Has it been quantized?
I find that sometimes,if you choose the wrong measure, quantizing makes it sound worse.
Keep em coming ;D

PolyMoog (Vox Humana) - Nostalgia (tweaked and phased etc.) Weird - sounds nothing like the Nostalgia clip we heard here a few weeks ago. How queer...

Indeed Jords... sounds NOTHING like the VH on my copy of Nostalgia I wonder if Steve Howell has done a rapid about-turn and loaded the right bloody sample on later copies. He must ber aware of the slagging he's had for it. If so, it's a bit bang out of order for those that already coughed up readies for it. He should make the patch available on Holow Sun for registered owners. Prodge, soz mate but you sound like Dennis Haines after a crate of Heineken

In Nostalgia I had to turn off, Master Filter, Filter, Chorus & Echo to get the sound in my version of Airlane.
Looks like my Honeymoon period is over then LOL. A good slagging off and back to the drawing board :-(

Noooooooooooooo ! Don't even think of it that way. One of the great things about this site is that when people think something is good, they say so, but equaly as useful is the constructive critisism given when someone feels it's appropriate.
The feedback on here feels "honest" and it has helped me correct some wrong paths already.
I guess what I'm trying to say is . . . appreciate the praise and consider the critisism - that way you can sit back and smile sometimes and re-consider your ideas at other times. but either way you know people are feeding back genuine comments.
And - hey ! as a newbie (or not so newbie now) you have contributed some GREAT stuff so far , so . . . ;D #glen# #musik14# #joannaman# #bigdube# ;D

Yeah... Mark (Proge) is absolutely right #bow# When you disable all the filtering and effects on the Nostalgia "Vox Humana" it is indeed a Polymoog buried underneath. Sadly, the instrument only contains 6 samples across the keyboard and they are very short with some pretty spectacularly bad looping in places. See I always said Vox Humana couldn't be sampled authentically (not without humungous multi-sampling and looooooong loops) #razz02# I think this is why he chose to smother it in filtering as he knew it was bollocks. Pity he didn't do what Mark did with his phasey thingumy and got a better result #devil01# Here are the six samples "exposed" #yikes# and then repeated with the Nostalgia burial filter re-installed.

Yike - that looping is pisspoor innit? Shame cos the basic sound is there really. I guess in a mix you wouldn't notice too much.
Re. the filtering I guess it's an attempt to capture both the Direct and Main Out sounds with one set of samples, so fair play for having a go. Pity there aren't two proper sets though.
Mark mate - keep knocking the tunes out ;D

Stick it up minus the Poly and i'll have a play if you like.
I also did the Denis Haines Heineken playing skills course so anything I do should slot right in.

LOL - I need to Google him as I presume you are taking the pi!ss - LOL I've 'stuck it up' here www.reemsoft.co.uk/AirlaneNoPoly.mp3. Won't the proper notes clash with my bum notes on the bass guitar and bass synth? I could remove those but that would only leave my feable GM drums! Anyone else want to have a bash? I see it now "Following hot on the heals of the impresive responses to the Kraftwerk compo, let's see what we can make of Mark's sh!t". LOL. Perhaps Gavin could correct it? Too much JD tonight, off to bed... #sleeping#
