How about some more noodling Andy etc if you are able to play in your condition. Just to stop you getting board. It's Every Day I die. Mixture of a a the live versions and orig. Firstly a copy that is an example but it is crying out for an Oddy at the end. currently an Oditty and it don't cut it. as Shaun puts it the "Drums suck the big one" so someone add some drums PLLLEEEEAAASE. DieSecond copy has the Oditty and Drums removed for adding your own. No drums etci'm ok with the bass though. Called Lust Bass patch. Tinker and improve and swear at and kick as much as you please. Anybody that is.

Good effort that Col! ;D I think I'm off down the pub tonight though so will be unable to contribute. Unless you want some 'Bridge? What Bridge?' style hurls to mix in later BTW, is that Oddity solo sequenced?

I'm having somewhat of a blonde moment here - anyone using Cubase can tell me whats the best way to import the clip that Col's done and set the tempo to match? You must have done that with 'Cry' Shaun (although I don't think you use Cubase?), when you put the loops to the track?

Yeah Andy, that was kind of interesting chasing that ARP sequence from 64½ to 65½ BPM as it drifted around on Cry I did all the assembly in Pro Tools but you can do pretty much the same in any DAW. It's a pain in the arse and quite convoluted but basically, you need to set markers every 4 bars and then measure off the tempo between them. If the tempo is rock solid (i.e. sequenced) you're onto a winner as you just chop up your added stuff so that it can be pasted in as loops tied square to the markers. You could do it in reverse of course and slice Col's tune into 4 bar chunks and run each one as a series of sequenced loops (well 4 bar one-shots really) in Cubase. You then have the option to match each chunk to YOUR tempo but, you'll have to watch the tuning. My way works for me (as you can see, I can even chase variable tempo material) but each to their own although I guess some basic principles apply. I'd be interested to know how you get on Andy so do let me know yeah?

Does it use velocity switching at all or is it one sample per note on the keyboard or what? Any chance of a series of samples, chromatic with max sustain?

Thanks for taking the time out to reply to my question Shaun. Oh that's OK Andy, anytime mate. Talking to yourself again Shaun? #loon# I'd just had a play with the ol' Oddy screaming lead patch, but while it sounds cool I aint never gonna be able to play that solo at this speed. You're gonna need a keyboard player for that

Jordan do what I do with solo keyboard parts and record it in stages and cobble them together.
there is no way on earth I can string a decent solo together without winding my hands in knots.
Andy - Me and samples are what Blondes are to brain surgery. In other words I haven't got a clue whether I can do anything with the sample. I just used it as It came and haven't changed anything. A lot of Reason samples seem to be protected in some way so that you can't extract it from the program if that makes sense but I will try.

I'd be interested to know how you get on Andy so do let me know yeah? Well, I did it - sort of. Being too lazy to dig out the manual, I looked at some dodgy Franglaise Cubase site and followed their instructions. It seems much like you said in ProTools, Shaun. You open up what's called a Tempo Track and Beat Calculator, then you go through the track in 1 or 2 bar measures, calculating the tempo. Very long winded, but it seems to work OK. Thanks for the heads-up - at least I know how to do it now :-)
