I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'

it's bugs the hell out of me only from a production standpoint.
it's like there's a specific model they use nowadays, certain mics, eq specs, mixing, compression, etc.
oh yeah, and that "i'm an ignorant american, and we'll kick your ass" vibe.

*scratches head and thinks* there must be an example of a country track with analogue synths out there somewhere surely? Well maybe not

Analogue synths and country. Yep it's been done already by Beck on his Seachange album.Actually a very good album. In particular you can clearly hear the overtly analogue synth sound on the latter part of the track Golden Age-a sound that would not be out of place on The Pleasure Principle.Beck is well known for being a Numan fan isn't he?

eeer...Beck you're not skim reading like JOrge Martin are you? First track in particular (Golden Age) on his album(Seachange) .Very blues/country but not the red neck variety.Analogue synths can be heard and alot of reverse tape effects.A very well produced album.

I seem to remember ( in my nightmares) a rather wanky C+W song called camouflage. About some ghostly yankee commando. Didn't that have a substantail electonic sound. I hope for all your sakes you don't recall

Stan Ridgeway huh?
Didn't he do "don't box me in" from the Rumblefish movie with Stu Copeland?
Going back a long way there but I still like that song.

i forgot to say that the camouflage song has no synths on it all, it does sound kind of spacey but i think (and i am certainly no expert) that this is down to loads of reverb and echo.
