A big hello to all from Wayne, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia).
I found this forum while searching the net for Polymoog "Vox Humana" samples so that I could build a multi-sampled instrument to run out of Kontakt. Unfortunately, there is not room in my studio for a real 280A (and I also find it hard to justify the expense for what is essentially a one-trick pony, and an unrealiable one at that ).
I immediately noticed two things about this forum. One, it has great content and a group of users with whom I share many interests. I think that I could hang with you all and toss back some pints. Two, it looks like Shaun and others have already started to create the multi-sampled "Vox Humana" instrument I lust after by sampling all of the notes on a 280A.
I would love (please, please, please ...) to help take that sample set and produce usable instruments. I could easily get versions running under at least Kontakt, Logic, Reason (NN-XT), and AKAI platforms. I sent a PM to Shaun proposing my help and am waiting to hear back from him.
I am a classically-trained pianist who discovered synthesizers when I heard Gary Numan for the first time in 1980. (I remain a fan of his music today.) The next year, I got a Moog Prodigy (which I still have and which is still working great after 26 years!) and I have been playing and composing electronic music ever since. I now have a large studio filled with keyboards and other gear (details to follow in other posts), but have never managed to create that early Numan sound, which I have learned came from a preset on the Polymoog Keyboard.
I am also a computer programmer and electronics expert (I have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, among other degrees). I have done a lot programming in various audio environments such as Reaktor and MAX/MSP.
Sorry for the long-winded post, but I am very excited that my quest for a virtual Polymoog may be nearing its end. ;D
Thanks for having this great forum, and thanks for reading my post. I hope to become an active member of this forum, and I hope to help you all produce a working "Vox Humana" virtual instrument.
Cheers,
Andrew
