Surely not... $1000 for International Shipping? Surely not.. Well, after working on two of these beasts so far, assuming extensive work needed to be done, somewhat on the order of my dear departed 280A, paying nearly $1,000 really isn't that far out of line. In fact, given the hours I spent on the 280A, and the amount of parts, charging myself only $1,000 would have been shooting myself in the foot! That's why we all spend so much time here helping each other out, there's no way to economically repair a Polymoog in bad shape, for either the owner or the tech. $1,000 for international shipping? I'm actually surprised it's not more. I just sold four slider caps from a dead Juno-6 to someone in the UK. When I went to print the shipping label for the package, which is actually a 6x9 padded envelope that weighs exactly 1oz., the U.S. Postal Service wanted a MINIMUM of $26.63 to ship it!!! If I go pick up a small flat-rate box tomorrow and put the envelope in that (yes, it's bigger than the envelope, and also quadruples the weight, it will "only" cost me $12.36 to ship it! Between continents, UPS, Fedex, and the USPS all ship by air, no more surface shipping. The bad part is I assumed mailing the parts in an envelope would be a reasonable expense, and only charged the person $3.00 shipping. Yes, it sucks.
