Hey up Steve #loon#
Steve's a good mate of mine who only came here to check out Agnetha's arse #bigdube#
Oh yeah and he wants to buy his first synth. Nothing hectic as he can't play owt. He just wants something cheap/numan related that he can get pissed, sit back, light a ciggy and hold down one note and go WOW! #lurve#
I reckon an SH-2000 should do it.
Any other recomendations for a lifesyle prop with added shwang? #banana#

Hey Steve
After you have finished with agnetha's arse can I have one of those Gold Living ornaments to go with the normal one Dubby gave me.
Sh2000. Very simple but very easy to make a nice sound with and cheap. Steve with sit there all day with the random note generator on just glassy eyed and humming i'm praying to the alien that stole Mr numan after 1981.
I paid £120 for an immaculate one. Axxe should be ok although i've never used one but a bit more dosh. i've got an old cranky Jen sx100 he can have. Not Numan related but good for a twiddle.

Steve's not one to turn down a good twiddle #loon# (ahem... quick back-track... SO AMANDA tells me #wacko# ). Hey Col! You're LO'80 isn't "normal". It was one of the first 10 or so off the press me lad (not that it says so). Bring it with ya when you come over. I'll get one of Steve's sprogs to put jam all over the cover. Now THAT'S authentic! #thumbsup# I'll leave Stevieboy to explain that #muncher#

Dam you Mr Brooks you said you would never tell anyone about the JAM .... Still not sure if you did'nt make that up so that you could get another 1st promo unmixed copy of me If you believe Shaun when I sent him LO80 the unmixed version it turned up with jam on the cdrs...lol, still it got done after many many late night phone calls and I would'nt have wanted to have done it with anyone else... Many many thanks for the info on my 1st synth....and your right, I just want to sit back with a bottle or two press..... ..a note....... twiddy a nob ( NO NOT MINE) and two days later you could come back and I'll still be sitting there...pressing the same note. See what I can do about the gold disc, but your not having mine #wacko#

A bit more expensive at £250 new but that little Alesis Micron takes some beating, I reckon. I've just listened to the demo (after some AH discussion) and it sounds sweet and looks cute too. #offtopic# I've run out of room here at la.bouch towers and am getting it in the neck from SWMBO. The CP30 and JP4 look at me with worried expressions when the topic comes up. I know I could do a really good multisample of the CP30 (every note at 3 velocities, no loops, stereo) if I could just be arsed. I also know though that it would be no substitute for _playing_ the old monster. The JP4 is awsome but it's just _so_ big. I need to cut things down to just the Poly and one other kybd, I reckon. I'd like to buy a laptop (if I had the cash) but I'm terrified that they seem so less upgradeable (is that a word?) than normal PCs. I fear blowing a grand on one (I guess it would be that much for one good enough for audio?) for it to be outdated the following week. At least with a PC you can (and I do) upgrade, bit by bit. I know it's a nice problem to have but it's causng me colly-wobbles #sobs#

I know what you mean Andy. I've run out of room too. I had to turn away a CP-30 myself (as you know I wanted one) through lack of space. I think there just comes a time when you have to say, I've got what I need and leave it. My best advice to you is to just keep what you have now. Don't get shut of the JP4 or CP-30 or you will regret it. I use the samples you sent me of your CP-30 and after a lot of fiddling, it sounds very close but I don't get the "feel" you have and I miss that. I think you need to come to an arrangement with her indoors and tell her that you're going to stop now but that you will keep what you have. That way she will feel that she's got somewhere and you on't end up resenting her for the loss of your stuff. On the computer side... build yer own. I've never bought a PC in my life and never will do. It's piss easy to put one together and usually cheaper. I want a laptop too but you can't make those and they're STILL bloody expensive for what you get. I mean right now my main music computer has 5 hard drives running at 1.5 terrabytes and even that's geting rammed with samples and multi-track audio etc. What chance has a crudy 80Gb laptop? Keep yer pecker up mate

I build my own PCs as well and bang for buck it can't be beat - maybe in a couple of years the £500 laptops will be powerful enough... As to the gear - we'll see. Am I man or mouse? Eeek eeek - pass the cheese!

You can buy a laptop Chassis for your own build now. I did look into it a while back but there isn't that much of a saving. Might be worth looking at an all in one if space is an issue. I sourced some good ones from Harvards enterprises which come as a chassis for self build. Quite reliable if you don't go overboard on spec. (Small psu). up to 3ghz ish p4 it can cope with. Takea standard micro atx board but only one expansion slot by a riser card. Sh2000 clips - see what I can do. Make do for now with 2 old ones from a previous post. Random note gen and song Whistle.
