Who is saying something at 1:38 into the song and what are they saying?? (Ironically, it sounds like he's saying "Is this thing on?")
Also, what is the very first synth that is heard in the song? The one doing the bass which sounds like its going through the phasor...

The same thing that opens 'Metal', underpins 'Cars', etc etc etc. Mini or Oddy, take your pick. Probably a Mini through a flanger and guitar amp, but we don't know for sure #scratchhead# Much discussed here on previous threads - have a search ('metal' probably best search term). Have wondered about the spoken vox myself...

Do you mean the "what's going on" bit?
If so i think shaun has the original recording? and on it you can hear numan saying "what the f**cks going on"in the direction of someone in the studio(engineer?)
Shaun will enlighten further ;D

Taken from my TTP collection and how it should sound...live and uncut M.E___________________________________________________________ MOD EDIT: Found out why your links weren't working Steve. You left two blank spaces between the URL and the ] bracket (before your short name) and you put the bold code around the short name in the MIDDLE of the URL code. Substituting the square brackets for round ones (so it will display here)... this is what you typed originally: (url=http://www.angelfire.com/80s/numan/me.mp3 )(b)M.E(/b)(/url) As I said... that don't work. What it should be is: (b) (url=http://www.angelfire.com/80s/numan/me.mp3)M.E(/url) (/b) Which does work... See (the corrected one is below): M.E Fab dusty bootleg BTW mate ;D

Steve,
Where is that ME track taken from...is it from the desk during the 1979 concerts or what ?
That stylophone lead does not sound nice but the rest is lovely...and just shows how tight the Numan band were in those days.
