If you're interested the article is here. Sound clips are here. I'm at work so can't hear them #buggered# Are they any good?

Interesting article, which gives a good starting point. The strings sounded more like the polymoog synth strings than the keyboard version's Vox Humana. Nice sound, but hasn't got the IN YA FACE presence or grace of the real Vox Humana. He also recons the phase effect used by Numan was from a Electro Harmonix Small Tone Phaser #goofy# But we know it was the MXR Phase that did it. That said, if I hadn't discovered the vast knowledge and resources available on this here dubby forum, I would have been well chuffed with this article as a starting point to explore the wonders of string sounds & would be programing in the settings he suggests as soon as I got home. {Actually I probably will still do that anyway #loon# .} Thanks for posting in the link Mark ;D

Nice article Way off the mark of course regarding filters and such but like Danno says unless you've got the actual kit to hand it's not easy to work out how the sound originates. Can't wait to hear these samples. And lest we get too sniffy about them, at least he's a got a JP8! Someone should put a quick 'Cars' clip pack together and point him at it! #goofy# Aha - I see the author is Mitchell from Celebutante, who has visited this site. Seems he didn't find the geeky-dissection-of-the-Numan-sound bits

The only Vox Humana that sounds like is Martin's duff one. (Sorry Martin).
And yes Russ your Nord sound is head and shoulders closer than that, probably as close as you will get with anything other than the real deal.
