Well i was working on this pop show last Sunday full of popular beat combos that all the young groovy kids like and who's the sound engineer but one Tim Summerhayes. Now those of you like me that used to be uber-nerds and read all the credits on album sleeves trying to figure out which synth did what etc. you'll instantly know that name from many a Numan live album. Anyway what can i say - a thoroughly nice bloke without a single bad word to say about Numan (although he had a few choice words about the PPG i can tell you ).

Yeah, spill the beans, what I wouldnt give to go back to 1980 and swap Jobs with Tim (even though his job would have to be my paper round).

Well the only time our Gaz had a hissy fit with Tim was when a journo was round (and we know how he feels about journos at the best of times) and Tim had Gaz's vocals soloed (and we all know how our Gaz feels about his voice at the best of times). So there's Tim happily tweaking Gaz's vocal in the background with Gaz getting more and more wound up cos the journo's hearing his isolated track. Nothing is said however until the scum (sorry rock journalist) leaves and Gaz says something subtle to the effect of "Don't you ever fucking do that again!". Surprisingly Tim never did do it again. Funny to think that Gazza can't even do his vocal with Gemma around, he must have been a nervous wreck back in the big studio days. Oh, and Tim said of the PPG (paraphrasing) "What is this 8 bit shit you're feeding me, it sounds bloody awful, do you really want this on your record!" i wish i'd mentioned the upcoming Telekon gig to him - would be great if he recorded it.

Is the Telekon gig still happening? He's playing in the states I think in August.
