Any fans of The Wake? I'm a new one! What's that string synth so prominent throughout? I've only heard the first two albums. How's the later stuff?

Mike, I've just come across your post - a bit late but as "Here Comes Everybody" is one of my all-time favourite albums I had to answer this one... ;D Believe it or not, the string sound is the Korg Poly-Ensemble PE-1000! You can spot it in the "Talk About The Past" video www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHfvzD9JL4w and in some of the live stuff on youtube. I think that their last two albums are not as great as the first ones. The Wake moved from Factory to Sarah Records after "Here Comes Everybody" and changed their style to more or less 'classic' late 80s guitar pop. Some nice songs on there as well but all in all the songwriting was not as great as on the Factory albums/singles (I think)...
