Fuck Yeah! "Hey Adam, This sounds like a very interesting and exciting venture, I'd be glad to take a stab at it. I've already downloaded the sound samples from the site and the patch sheet image, and I'd greatly appreciate the GUI elements that do already exist for it. With these elements though an understanding must be reached that you and the forum won't be the only ones who are given access to the polymoog clone, it will be sold to the public as well. If the originators of the artwork are comfortable with that fact and are willing to give them to me to create and sell the synth, it would mean strides forward already in the developement. There may be a few more sound byte requests I'll have once I get really chugging with it, but they should be very simple and will probably only come up in the developement of the synth side and not the keyboard side. Just get me the GUI elements and in touch with some of the other people who may have been taking a stab at the plug and it shouldn't be too difficult at all. Cheers, Chris Roberson." BAAAAAAAAAAAAM! He said yes, let's do it, guys! Let's give em' the GUI, everything we can give him, we should GIVE HIM! These are truly exciting times, don't you concur?

So to clarify, he is going to build a Polymoog soft synth or rompler? With all the presets or "just" the Vox Humana preset? Can you ask him how long he estimates it will take? I'm not a programmer but my guess is it would take a very long time to get right without access to the real hardware and schematics ( if building an actual synth not rompler).Even a rompler would be best to have the hardware available for comparison.(see recent VSM soft synth). I think getting hold of a hi-res GUI is less of an issue than actually making the thing itself. How long did his previous synths take to make? Do you any links to the ones he did? Be interesting to try them out...

He only builds Soft-Synths so that's my guess. +... who the hell wants another Rompler, we want an EMULATION

Does this Chris chap "get" what is unique about the humana sound. I've repeatedly seen requests for humana patches on other analogue synth forums, usually it goes something like this
Can anyone come up with a patch for Vox humana on the softdabblers ubermega VSTi??? I'll try give me an example of where the sound has been used Gary Numan's "Cars" Not heard it in years, I'll download it and get back to you Ok got it that willl be easy just a string sound I'll knock that up for you with my 2 oscillators and saw tooth waves Ta Da!
end result = basic string sound with a bit of reverb on it
As for a full emulation..WHY to be brutally honest all I want is Vox and the string presets. Are you really going to emulate the divide down technology and ALL those filters? How much processing power does a single software filter and oscillator take any way? how about a 100 at once?

Chris & I, DO understand what is so special about VH, 8 Filters all pitching out a unique Formant, coupled with lots and lots of PWM all at different frequencies and amounts. This thing will probably be a CPU hog, but we will work it out. I'll be damned if i'm gonna sit back and watch more and more idiots request VH and getting a Sawtooth string patch. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK that.
We will make this work....
Oh, and for the record, i was able to get (typically) pretty close to VH on my Roland SH-201 by layering 2 dual oscillator PWM patches together and using both a LPF, and BPF. Not to mention the 4 LFOs that were being used to modulate the hell out of it.

Umm...Probably the most exasperating time to make my interoduction to this board, but I've HAD a...lets say...60% functional Polymoog 203a emulation up and running in synthedit.
The bad: It has no gui (although I have the instrument fully modeled and textured and rendered, and beautifully I must say), the resonators are sure to be off as far as response goes, it uses the "voice-copy" technique common to softsynths for the oscillators (although I have developed a 49-note sawtooth wave thru VCA paraphonic emulation system that took me a few days to whip up), and the filter envelope response is WAY off compared to what I heard on Tormato.
The good: Nearly all the waveform (PWM/FM/tuning) controls conform to the specifications in the manual EXACTLY.
Any PC'ers/SynthEdit folks want to have a look at it? It uses some custom modules I'd be happy to include (freeware ones I've scrounged up). This has been sitting half-done on my computer in favor of an ARP Quadra model I'm still trying to make work.
PM me and we'll talk. I'd love to see this move forward!

Keep in mind, the VSTi export isn't done; do you have Synthedit? If so, I can have the thing emailed to you tonight.

Not at all, its' just that Clinton who's doing all the programming is a student and can only work on the project during college breaks. He should be back on it again at thanksgiving (or whatever these colonials call it ).
