Nicely recorded mix there Martin. The vocals sound extremely good. Still wondering how you flange/verbed the CR-78 snare but kept the hat & rimshot dry. Without sync, it would be difficult to line up unless of course you cheated

Thanks gavin/shaun for taking the time to comment ;D Shaun,it's the first time i've seen you get the drum machine wrong I used your DR-55 samples again for this track

Martin, the horrific thing was that in my head I saw a DR-55. I think I need a break from working on this bloody sample pack. What next? Do I stroll into the newsagent ang ask for 50 grammes of compurhythm? Perhaps I'll order a CR-78 and coke. At the moment of climax do I yell "metal beat ooh yes yes yes!"?

Cheers mark/joe The story behind it is;we are going back on tour soon(ok,we've 1 gig lined up in june )so i'm reworking all the songs we are going to play, hopefully stripping down the backing music to guitar, bass and beat, but i'm liking the redone versions so much that i'm getting louise to do new vocals on them all. So look out for some new versions of old tracks coming your way soon(no shaun, there isn't going to be any korg triton versions this time )

Still smarting from that one are we? If you're using backing tracks, you might want to run them past Uncle Dubby before you play 'em out. I could do a bit of magical aquarium on them so they come out right on the PA if you like.

That i would like sir,as long as i don't end up being sent a load of cr-78 samples by mistake I'll let you know when i've done all the music ;D

I must have forgot to post(press "post reply") the post I wrote yesterday about your Metal cover... I always look forward to your covers as I know they are going to be completely re-worked into your style. This is definately better than the previous one you did of it. If this is anything to go by I really hope "You're the one that I want" is on your list of tracks to re-work as I still love the version you did (had it on at work today). I was also playing the blondie cover you did in session ( Fade away and radiate) I wonder if that is also on the list?
Aquick question, how long did Metal take to re-do...recording etc?

;DBern. YTOTIW is on the list to redo,FAAR isn't(that was done as a one off) Metal took about 2 four hour sessions to record including vocals,it started out as just adding guitar, bass and new rhythm to use as a live backing track but i got sucked in and redid the lot As with all theses reworks, the basic structures are already in place so they aren't taking long at all We did one of our old songs, contradiction, last night and i love it,it's been stripped into a 3 minute basic track and sounds all the better for it(to my ears)

Contradiction was one of my favourites of the session tracks you did for the show. The best cover (for me) was Nothing Compares 2 Dubsounds though and both your vocals on Pod Muzik

THISis the contradiction rehersal, bear in mind that this is a rehersal recording so not properly mixed etc.and louises mic is picking up the backing music etc. If we redo a studio version i'll probably add another couple of mins.

Nice one. Im just happy because i can stream music for the first time since i got this computer! ehhhh? It doesn't stream, does it? Well not for me at least. For it to stream, you would need a m3u file link rather than a direct link to the mp3 file itself. As it is, the file downloads first then plays. Cracking interpretation of Metal by the way! ;D

Streaming depends on what program you have associated with "mp3" files in your browser. If, for example, you use Quicktime as your mp3 plugin (as I do), mp3 files will start streaming without having to download the whole file. I am sure that the same thing happens with many other mp3 plugins as well (Real Player??).
What mp3 plugin are you using in your browser?

Im using windows mediaplayer. When i click on a link it starts playing straight away. Until i got my new modem it would play 2 seconds then pause, then play ,then pause until i give up and click exit.

Im using windows mediaplayer. When i click on a link it starts playing straight away. Until i got my new modem it would play 2 seconds then pause, then play ,then pause until i give up and click exit. My default is windows mediaplayer too. But when I click on an mp3 file link, it downloads first, then it plays (although it normally only takes seconds to download the entire mp3). I thought this was due to the fact, there is no m3u link to the mp3 file. If the mp3 is embedded on a web page with the 'auto start parameter', it streams. 'Hmmmm......... strange, I'll check my file associations.
