Hi everyone, wow, I am so glad I have found this forum. I am a new owner of a Polymoog Keyboard 280a. I came across it from a friend who was throwing it out. I have always been into Bass as I play Bads in a band and have done for many years, but I do appreciate the sounds of this board as I am a big fan of Tubeway Army. First things first though, I got it home and plugged it in and it didnt work - I am not that technical, but can take things apart and look and I found what is 2 fuses inside near where the plug goes - these fuses are wierd looking things with what looks like a pot inside a glass tube, anyway - they are both blown and I am really hoping that once I replace the fuses - IT WILL WORK!!!! I am now hooked on getting ot looking good again. I have loads of questions to ask like how to get the case looking shiny black again and all that stuff, but I think I have to get the thing to work first. Anyway - Hello everyone and I hope someone can help me regarding the fuses - no shop I have been in knows what or where to get them from or even an equivelant. Take care all.

Thank you for your reply. I am unable to offer help in this area, but if I can help or advise on anything - then I will. I am going to upload a couple of pics of the moog just as I found it and then of the serial number. I have noticed the serial number to be 1077 - does this mean anything to anyone. Also, thanks for your offer of help - I am going to post in the tech section to find the fuses - I am hoping that this is the only thing thats wrong.

Serial #1077.... I think that would make it the 77th PMK to be produced.

Wow!!! 77 - thats quite early I think. And 1977 was my favourite year, seems as though I am an old punk from the 77 era. Thanks for that. Makes me more keen to get it sounding and looking like it should.

Well, the PMK came out in 78... but if I'm correct, yours was the 77th to come out of the assembly line.

Hello there MartyMoog, nice to hear from you. I am in UK - The North East - Middlesbrough to be exact. Do you know where I am??? where are you mate? I am amazed at finding out that my Moog is quite an early one off the line!!!!! Cant wait to get to work on it and get it up and running. I am hoping it will be OK when fuses are in, but I am going to take advice and go through the steps that have been outlined to me.

What's good about it being a 280a is that it's had all those reliability revisions from the factory. Not all of the 203a's are fitted with those upgrades. Norlin/Moog actually released a road kit for the originals because they were prone to break downs.

I thought you must be near the 'boro' from your email! I live in Coulby and am also a 280a owner, recently reserected from the dead ! Hi again, I am closer than you think mate - I live in Marton - Near the Brunnies. I used to live in Ash Hill, Coulby. Can I ask your advice??? I need to know where to get the fuses from that will match the blown originals which were in my Moog - no one in Boro knows what they are and the electrical shops - do not stock anything like them. I am desperate for a load of these fuses so I can follow the instructions so kindly given to me to start to get the moog going. Dave

Ah the Brunnies! Used to know it well though the 'Cross' was my haunt when I was younger!
To keep the forum threads right I've posted in the Tech section too.

Helo - sorry I did not reply - just finished shifts. I still go in the Brunnies for a drink and the Cross. If you ever fancy a pint or three, give me a shout. I have replied to your post in technical - cant wait to start the first part of the instructions.
