I need a power adapter (PSU) for a Roland R5 (or R8) drum machine. I believe that the model name is ACH 230 (ACH230), or ACH 240 (ACH240), or ACH 240e (ACH240e) It's the UK version, on 230 or 240V AC.. A European 230V one would do. Bloody typical Roland. Why can't they use standard PSUs? #twisted# Does anyone have a spare one I can buy for a reasonable price?

Had a look on the Roland site and they want 45 knackers for one. Buggers make more money on spares.

..hence my request.. I'd have thought a tenner would be a good price for a second hand one. Incidentally, I put a wanted message on my website this morning. When I did a Google search for "Roland ACH 230" later, my post appeared at #5, and the content appeared at #6 in the list. I think my SEO system works. I also have a wantitnow ad on ebay UK. Not holding my breath on that one, based on previous experience.. ..and a post on electro-music. That could work.

Right. I now have a Roland PSU. (I bought a dead R8.. a damned sight cheaper than a new PSU from Roland) So, the R5 works (needs 3 new output sockets, as originally declared by the seller). I have to say that I prefer the R5 sounds to my usual Alesis SR-16.
Pity the R8 is a duffer. I'd have got more for an R8 than an R5. It powers-up, the LCD displays something like a power-meter, but then fades out again. No sound output.. any suggestions?

Sounds like a trip to the tech is the only answer. So a second-hand R-8 with PSU is cheaper than buying a new PSU? Mad. I love my R-8M still.

It's a seriously-dead R8. I'm going to cannibalise the jack sockets to sort the R5.
But Yes, it was twenty-odd quid, against £45 + P&P from Roland.. Crazy.
