Hello all, The subject just about covers it. I'm thinking very strongly of getting into the vintage analog synth/vintage keyboard repair/rebuild/upgrade/restoration business, and I'm looking for dead bodies for parts, or to possibly resurrect. I may start custom building modules as well. I also want to pick up a few items for myself. The other day, I just missed buying a dead Rogue for $90 (€67.40, £48.66) that I wanted for myself, but a friend of mine beat me to it . Currently in the pipeline are: A Minitmoog, a Polymoog synthesizer, and a Hammond M-3 organ. The next project coming in after the Polymoog is done, and these four are definitely on the waiting list (hence my plea for parts): An ARP 2600, a Prophet 5, and TWO Prophet 10 synths (both with blown power supplies at least). I also need a black key for my MG-1. I'd also like to pick up a dead MG-1 or a Rogue to "experiment" with #borg# Even if it's just a chip or two, or a dead board that you can part with, let me know. Thanks to one and all!

This is pretty much what I used to do a few years ago. I used to spend 4 hours each Monday evening just sitting waiting for students to contact the IT Helpdesk. (which was not actually my job) Mostly they didn't, and I'd have 4 hours free to tinker. (I used to get paid overtime for this, too ). So I went through a large number of Korg Polys, a Roland Juno, microKorgs, Darksound, Alesis drum machines, Hohner Stringer (weird), Bass3 and various other weird stuff. I'm kind-of back into it again, just bought a Roland R5 drum machine with faulty output jacks (cheap).. To-do list: JHS SD-1 Synth Drum (Selector switch required, going to add a PSU as well, as it eats batteries..) miniKorg 700 (2-keys, and cosmetics) - possibly transplant a Lowery keyboard, and sell the Korg bits off.. UNLESS SOMEONE HAS A COUPLE OF WHITE KEYS (F&G I think) FOR A MINIKORG? Korg m500 (cosmetics/woodwork) Crumar Stratus (God only knows - CEM/SSM??) Did I mention I run the Crumar Yahoo group? Roland R5 (replace output jacks) Alesis D4 - internal battery&holder replacement Casio PT-30. Where do I start? Other possibilities: Monosynth from scratch using the other Lowery Keyboard I have .. currently researching this. Bass synth with a Lowery pedalboard.. Moog Taurus I think not.. Again, researching.. Gakken SX-150 with proper keyboard. Or VL-Tone Keyboard. There's an idea. Gakken SX-150 with stylophone keyboard. Just thought of this. It would solve the "where is the bloody note" problem. So yeah, I'm looking for old kit, but on this side of the pond..

The gakken standard kit is the stylophone type.I got it off ebay, haven't seen a keyboard versio- you mean you are donna make one. I like the idea of the VL Tone keyboard, I have the Vl1,Vl 5 and the other one VL 10. would be quite novel to have a full keyboard version.
Gakken do a theremin too.

Hi Bern,
The Gakken has a continuous strip, whereas the stylophone has individual contacts for notes. I can't hold a tune on the Gakken, because I can never find the notes. I was considering making a resistor ladder, patching it to a stylophone keyboard, and installing that instead. Or use the same idea to patch-in a VL keyboard.
There's a Gakken on youtube with a mini-keyboard built-in to the Gakken case. I think that's too limited. I'm thinking more along the lines of the Gakken hardware in a different (VL?) case..
Hmm. what about Gakken hardware in a Stylophone case? (I got my Gakken off ebay too, last year. Neat for sound-effects)

Nervejam, Consider building an ARP Axxe circuit for your bass pedals, you will NOT be disappointed!
I wish I had my Axxe back, but it is over in the UK now...

Now where can I get an ARP AXXE PCB.. Actually, it can't be that complex. Can it? Found the schematic - I already had it in the service manual.. I suspect that some of those parts are no longer available..

I suspect that some of those parts are no longer available.. Actually, ALL the parts are easily available through eBay/electronic surplus outlets, with the exception of tempco resistors. However, in that case, I've read a couple things online where a few clever souls have figured out a workaround using common NTC Thermistors. I'll post a link after I get some sleep, and the adult recreational beverages wear off.... #boozer01#
