This was one of the first one's I bought when I started collecting analogue drum machines. A Korg Mini Pops 7 made under the Univox name for American import in the very early seventies. Highly collectible for being the drum machine on "Oxygene", the SR-95 has a slightly reduced value compared to an actual Korg branded machine, (not by much mind) and as such they tend to get snapped up very fast by Jarre fans. It does appear on other records though. One that springs to mind being McCartney's "Band On The Run". It has a pretty weak kick drum and the snare is just a noise splat but the percussion sounds are very good indeed. It's also the only analogue drum machine ever made with that unique "quijada" sound that's so distinct on the Oxygene single. This one is the top seller on the Dubsounds samples collection page as well by quite a margin. You can hear it in action here: www.dubsounds.com/mp7.htmClick on "Listen To My Beats" to hear the patterns. You can never have everything though, there were just far too many made. You uncover quite literally hundreds of them when you start scratching the surface and after a while you'll discover that many of them were the same under the hood. A lot of machines were sold under different names and in different configurations but essentially shared the same components. I gave up at 38 machines... that was enough and I rarely see anything now that I haven't already got or that gets my interest. A nice hobby while it lasted but now prices have gone ballistic, it's hardly worth the effort. That said, I've secured a very tidy investment for when I get sick of them taking up so much room at the back of my studio.
