I am VERY happy to be here.
I found this place last year when i was looking for info on the Polymoog, and as you may have guessed, i too am completely obsessed with Analog Synths and Synth bands. Men Without Hats, Gary Numan, Human League, DEVO, A Flock Of Seagulls, ULTRAVOX, are all awesome, but Numan is my favorite. His Muzik has helped me through some tough times back when my Asperger's Syndrome was really bad. When i found out that he had Asperger's i thought "Really? Well if the man who brought us Dark-Wave Industrial Synth music has it, than i might just get through this WITHOUT killing myself."
Anyway, back on topic...
Synths are my love, and hobby, they will probably be my career as well and i do not know what i would do without these beautiful Analog machines in my life.
I tend to drift (like the old Oscillators) towards the really old Synths even before the Roland Jupiter-8 and Oberheim OBX-a, i'm talking ARP Odysseys and Minimoogs! Although i prefer the Odyssey (hence my name) i still have a rather large soft spot in my heart for the Moogs.
Where as every Synth nut i have ever known (all 1 of them) HATED the Polymoog, i happen to LOVE it. Where as many people say the only good thing about it is the 280a's Vox Humana, i BEG to differ. I like all of the sounds. (no i do not have a REAL Polymoog)
This brings me to why i am here, i bring you all good news...
go there and feast your eyes upon the biggest collection of Moog samples evaaaar!
I spent 250 US dollars on this Mo' and the reason why? Because i THOUGHT it would have Vox Humana. I banked on it, (again, $250) and i hoped and hoped and to my surprise they didn't have it! Or so i thought...
What they had was a bunch of Polymoog samples, Strings, Honky, Piano, EP, Clav, Harpsi, and to "Special" sounds called Polyhuman1 and Polyhuman2. Of course, since i'm sort of an idiot, i couldn't put 2 and 2 together "Human" "Humana".
I understood the similarity of the names, but when i played the presets, they really didn't sound very Vox like. I goofed around with the sounds and after a month of experiments i finally realized that it WAS Vox Humana. I originally thought that they took samples of the original Vox Humana (you know, the Heavily Filtered one) BUT they didn't use the Polymoog's Filter.
They used the SampleMoog's (built in) Filter to make it SEEM like the original filtered Vox.
I brought the Cut-Off all the way up, but to no avail so i doubled up 2 more Multi-Mode Filters on top of it. It then got so bright that i could finally say: "This IS Vox Humana".
If any of you here at this site, buy this thing, i will post Step-By-Step instructions on how to "Numanize" your Vox Humana.
FINALLY VOX IS AVAILABLE FOR UNDER 800 DOLLARS!
Thank you,
Ody
