Gary Numan is selling his AKAI sampler on eBay!
Apparently, it's been used on several albums, and for touring.
It's start price is £50. Search for "GARY NUMAN" in the "pro-audio" category.
Oh, and the seller name is "mortalrecords".
(The website "news" section confirms this.., and explains that he's just selling off kit he doesn't use anymore..)

Have you seen the price of that S1000 so far? £525!! I sold my fully loaded S6000 for not much more than that! I now have a cunning plan to buy a load of dodgy old samplers and write the names of 80's electro stars on the side. Instant cash! Imagine - the Marc Almond S900, the Midge Ure Emax...... what a jape!

Ber-limey... I sold him my Quadrasynth before his last 1 off gig (this year?/last year?) for £250 - more than I paid for it. I wonder how much he'll get for that if he flogs it?!! Bearing in mind his Dad came and picked it up and chucked it in the boot of his Jeep without a flightcase or anything...

This is all getting a little vulgar isn't it? I'm really worried that some poor bugger will end up paying over a grand for an outdated sampler that's only worth £100 (yes Jordan we know OK ) and what's worse is that if they know sod all about Music Tech are going to switch it on and find it doesn't make any sound from any of Numan's albums. In fact without a sample library it won't make any noise at all. I really hope Numan puts some of his "Exile" samples on disk for the poor bugger that wins the auction, otherwise they're gonna be gutted to find its a signed box of 15 year old scrap. I don't blame Numan for signing it to get a better price but I think this is getting out of hand. If he sold one of his classic synths where the sounds he used were still onboard (or could be programmed easily enough) I could understand the price hype but not a bloody S1000

Couldn't agree more. I wouldn't want any of the Exile sounds meself, but there's nowt as queer as folk :-) I know all synths are just machines to a degree but I can't ever imagine looking over at an S1000 and feeling all warm like I do at my Mini...

If there are people daft enough to pay whatever for a bit of Numan equipment then that's up to them really. Why feel sorry for them? Maybe to them its worth it. Plenty of loony Numan fans around happy to fill Gary's pockets... What's the betting Gary will be scouring the for sale section in Sound on Sound for S1000s after this...

Vulgar - yup. I know what you mean Shaun but ultimately folks have got to look after themselves yeah? If you're prepared to spunk a G on this kind of thing you should have the wit to know what you're buying, if not then tough - it's hardly GN's fault. I bet if you asked wor Gazza if he'd thought it would go this nuts he's say 'sod off I'd have been chuffed with a couple of hundred or so'. I can't imagine what is motivating the latest bidders but I don't believe they think they're buying Numan-Inna-Box. I reckon if you can afford these prices you're savvy enough to know what a sampler is, and also to read an item description properly i.e no samples included. Maybe someone somewhere thinks Exile is their personal musical epiphany and is prepared to splurge to somehow buy into its creation, however detached. God help 'em if so but who knows (It's not like I'm not guilty of the same thought processes ) I reckon it's someone who's been a lifelong fan, has got a few quid now, and wants to somehow get close to the man by obtaining something used to make their fave choons and which has been lovingly caressed by his own fair, er, road crew. Fair play to them, and fair play to GN to - I'm sure he's scripting his humbly amazed web update as I type. Odds on a meltdown bidding frenzy resulting in no sale - HIGH
