I know what your saying Shaun but had the backing tape been Martins own version of "Me" would that have made it more "Live". Chances are if i were doing a backing tape to "Me" it would have been much the same.
Not sure what Martin is supposed to do to get round that given he is the only instrument player.

If Martin had played, arranged and recorded his own backing tapes then yes it would be a Liquidscreamer live performance in as far as it is possible for them to do.
Also, if Martin had done his own backing, believe me - it would have sounded sod all like a posh midi-file of a Numan track (I actually found that the most off-putting thing about the clip). Martin's entire mad genius and the whole thing I like about his work is in his OWN arrangements and the fact that he strays away from the originals so much.

I suspect Martin was reasonably happy with it otherwise he wouldn't have posted it for scrutiny.
i've only ever played something "Live" once and even with 3 of us we struggled to cover everything without some backing tape. I just speak from my own experience or lack of. Other than the stringy patch on the Yam for a small gig with what they had time/manpower wise it seem to go down ok.

1: Get a dancer, like that bloke Howard jones had. 2: Get Louise to wear very revealing clothes. 3:Use strobes behind facing the audience. 4:Get other members on stage even if they are miming and get them to wear bright outfits. 5:Have a gimmick like Bucks Fizz had with the old pulling the dress off.Mmmm6:Do some plate spinning whilst youre playing the keyboard. 7:When Lousie isnt singing get her to do some juggling.8:Get a member of the audience up to sing on one of your songs. 9:Get the singer to tell jokes and pick on people in the audience like at a comedy club On second thoughts dont do that one. From experience its a fine line between being jokey, and starting a fist fight. 10:Swear a lot. well gav what are u really trying to say? #loon# xxx

OK Colin, this will be the last I have to say on this as Martin's had quite enough free publicity from our debate today. You seem to keep banging on about the morality of using backing tapes but I'm not arguing with you over that. I'm saying that I don't think it's right to use someone else's backing tape! As for whether Martin was happy or not. Arrogant as this will sound... I don't think Martin is the best judge of his own material. From past experience, what he's sometimes thought of as "clever" or "better executed" is actually rubbish that practically anyone could have knocked out. I believe his best stuff is when he's on the verge of scrapping something or is confused about it. That's where his edge lies. Too much "check me out" seems to spoil that uniqueness and you can hear that "screamer sound" disappear up its own backside.

Before we played the song i announced "A while back,on a wonderful website i frequent called dubsounds, run by a great guy called shaun brooks,a few of us got together and came up with a cover of this gary numan song" And i was going to wear the dubsounds t-shirt if it was ready ;D

Can't we argue just one more time Enough with the T-Shirt hints. I gave the go ahead to the printers today. Very Limited numbers so if i don't like ya your out of luck. The mods of this site get on cos we are Gods and one to Steve cos he's buying the beer at the Tele London gig the other 5 are up for grabs. L, M, Or XL is all i've requested. If that don't fit either go on a diet or eat some more pies whichever. Any colour as long as it's Black. I should add Martin's hint means he's bagged one so 4 left Vortex added. 3 left Dubby Edit: Last three to... Lemonkid, NumeralEye and Mysterycircuits. Please PM Col to finalise.

Sold to the lady with the big puppies.
That pretty much means they are all spoken for. I will include a large breasted size for Martin as well.
