Does anybody use them? Anybody need more? In the last 6 weeks I've uploded 939 samples (182Mb) and it would be great if some of you could let me know whether you use them and if I have the right type of sounds and in the right format for you. Cheers

May the Lord give thanks to the almighty Dubhead for bestowing up on us these gifts which are as manna from heaven...nay, more the ambrosia of the Gods themselves
(and I'm not talkin' 'bout custard).
Alternatively...
Cheers Shaun. I only got back on here last week and these were a nice surprise. As soon as I've cleared a bit of diskspace I'll take a few. Now I've worked out why my Live card wasn't ouputting I might nick the soundfonts first...

Very funny ;D Seriously... I'm not after a back slapping here. All I want is feedback from you people to let me know that you are downloading the samples, using them and want me to post more. Otherwise, I won't want to waste my time or yours

I think that's more than fair enough. No point in spending all that time if no-one is using them... Hopefully make a start on these this week. Now I'm meddling music wise again these may well come in handy... I'll certainly let ya know.

You need a sampler with soundfont playback facilities. Most software hosts come with built in sample playback modules. For instance; if you were using Orion on your PC for sequencing and VSTi's etc it is so simple you wouldn't believe. Insert Orion Sampler, open soundfont, play on your midi keyboard - done! The reason why I chose to use soundfonts in the first place is because they are compatible with almost anything and whilst you lose my lovely keyboard crossfade zones (which help mask samples that suddenly seem to jump in tone from one part of the keyboard to the other) it's not that much of a sacrifice. At least all my loops work properly along with the keyboard mapping and tuning etc. Also, because they are SF2 (soundfont 2) some are stereo samples too - and sound great too. I have used a hardware sampler for over ten years (an Ensoniq ASR-10) and have amassed a humungous sample library. All the samples (apart from the recent OBXa String and VP-330 Choir) are all converted from Ensoniq in the PC (having only just learned how to do this - what a Godsend!). the conversion, testing and web page design is very time consuming though but so long as people are getting good use out of the samples, I'm happy.

which version of halion homeslice?
if in a pinch for a soundfont player, take a snoop through kvraudio.com for some freeware plugins that can play them.

I downloaded some of the soundfonts today Dubs and after your little lesson yesterday...it all worked fine. I also did a google search for 'free soundfonts' and found a few others so I'll be up and running soon.
Cheers for the hard work.

Nice one! Glad one of us was awake Getting no sleep at the moment with my new baby girl , she keeps waking me up all the time saying "dadda play" Just a side-note Gary; if you use a soundfont on a song that you send to me via email as an Orion song-file, I'm not sure if it will embed the soundfont into the song-file or not. I know that some of the recent songs you sent had the rex loops embedded (which is handy) but I guess we'll have to wait and see when you send the next one. The reason I mention it of course is obvious. If you download a soundfont from another site which I don't have stored on my hard drive (unless it is embedded) I will get an error... much the same as you do when you try to load some of the preset sounds in Orion on the "special slimmed down version" As I said, w'll have to see.

Well I've returned from war torn London and as I got home a little earlier than expected thought I'd sit down and have a play. VP330 - luvverly. John Foxx a go go... Garden era anyway. Synclaviers - ummm nope, not my cuppa. Moog Taurus - umm nope, not really. JP8 - yummy. Very nice, both sounds. Ah lakee very much Juno 106 - bladdy single oscillators... no fat! no fat! OBXa Strings and Powerpad. Ooooh Baby.... ARP Solina - nothing wrong with a bit o' cheeze... nice, in its place. That trumpet should be had under the trades descriptions act though... ARP Quadra - itching for a bit o' reverb and flange to taste... Prophet stuff - nothing wrong with 'em but I'll stick to the Pro 53 I think. Haven't bothered with most of the bass sounds as I'm not really a bass connoisseur. Very happy to have these though, ta very much mistah... Looking forward to seeing what else you put up for our delectation in the future! Looking forward to see what Yamaha stuff ends up on there too.

Great stuff! Glad to see folks are using them (and that at least some of the sounds are wetting Phil's whistle) The best Moog bass samples are in the Memorymoog page. Now they are drooly
