I posted this over on AFENet but thought I'd stick it here too. Get downloading and remixing ;D Even those of you with no software can download the free demo of Acid Express and get the Acid Remix Pack then you're all set www.nin.com/access/only/

I downloaded the Pro-Tools, Acid and Ableton versions (the joys of a 2.5 meg connection) and I'm gonna use them all to perform a "battle of the platforms" just so I'm up to speed on the latest versions. So far it looks like a tie but in different ways. Ableton has everything separated but the wav's clip off the decay of the piano for instance which is pretty stupid, whereas the Acid stuff is not truncated but there's less available sounds (why?). Pro tools wins hands down of course but then that IS the original platform the album was recorded on so I'm discounting that. Being slightly cynical here but I wonder if this is a bit of a marketing ploy to get people to buy more audio software. Not that's a bad thing - the more the merrier I say - but it will doubtless help line a few pockets (or give the wa**z scene a shot in the arm LOL)

As this was such a succes and Garageband not being available on the PC, he decided to release it in other formats as well. Simple as that.
