Just happened to catch a link about this on Friday (or was it Saturday). Both these shows were on BBC red button.
So we had a bit of H17 and a bit of La Roux, then Ellie Jackson singing "Temptation" with H17 (she pretty much nailed it) , and then Glen Gregory singing "in for the Kill" with La Roux. Apparently, they then discovered that both had wanted to do "come live with me". The look on Martyn's face when Glen said, right, lets do it then.. was excellent.
Then the Numan / Boots stuff, which I had already seen on YouTube, apart from Numan joining in with "stuck on repeat".. Hmm.. Venus in furs is a bit erm, well.. AFE was far better..
Boots came across as far more polished than La Roux .. sounded like Kate Bush in places..
Good stuff, though, and there was naff all else on..

i was at the Numan/Little Boots session and can say that i have to marry this girl. She's tiny and gorgeous. Like her voice too.
i really have a problem with La Roux though - that Doing It for the Kill vocal is really nails-on-blackboard screechy to my ears. Does no-one else hear this?

I hadn't really heard much stuff by Little Boots or La Roux before seeing these shows on tv.
I liked Venus in Furs but didn't really like the newer tracks such as Haunted. Metal was good though. I quite liked Little Boots, and yeah I get the Kate Bush comparison.La Roux's voice idoesn't appeal to me and that song (In for the Kill) Glenn sounded better singing it than her.
Hope they continue these collaboration shows though.
I was hoping Heaven 17's synths sounds would have been more progressed, "Let Me Go" sounded weaker live than the studio version.I liked what they did to the start of Fascist Groove Thang though, at least it was different.

I have to agree about Ellie Jackson's voice on "In for the kill" - Aaargh! Glen DID sound better. I do think that the synthy bits make up for it though.
A lot of my fave synth acts in the 80s had dodgy vocals...
