Would be nice to get the notes for the melodies right as a starting point. Not worried about matching the original arrangement in any way.
If the consensus is we all do one track Minimum(or two Maximum if people have time) each then how about February the 14th that will be exactly 40 days starting from tomorrow morning and it is also Valentines day I think, so easy to remember the deadline...

"Dahling, it's Valentine's Day - come to bed..." "I'd love to sweetheart, but this compressor is the only thing that that's gonna be pumping around here for the next couple of hours - I've got a deadline to meet!"

So here are the rules: 1.Deadline 14.11.06 at 11pm 2.No techno-trance/happy house/clubby remix dancey style versions. 3.No clone/replica/sound-like-the-original versions. 4. Less like the original the better. 5.Late joiners are allowed. More details to follow. Anyone can contact Garycee?- to see if he's interested as he comes here sometimes and I think would do a great interpretation of whatever he chose.

Started.
Got disillusioned/bored due to lack of ideas.
Stopped.
Started again yesterday, for about 1/2 an hour. Eventually realised my adopted recording technique was bollox and junked the lot again.
Blood from a stone...

That's a start anyway, eliminating ideas is always good, makes room for new ones.

oh i've started work on mine, it's more like a sound design nightmare. alot of time stretching single notes then sequencing them to get the melodies. rhythms get bitcrushed, stuttered, compressed to tighten them up, then stuttered again. still haven't decided what to do for the vocals, i'm thinking maybe vocoder and stutter edits. the sound of the computer derezzing

I did a bass line but scrapped as too like the original and have done another and drums. Kind of happy with it so far and I also want to do something different with the vocals. Maybe Klaus Nomi style if I can find someone to kick me in the nuts Ohh i did an intro for it as well. always like songs like I dream of wires which had an intro.

Mines comming along slowly but OK, however it's still sounding to much like the original at the moment. More tweaking & sounds needed me thinks.

Just a reminder, one of the options was to do a Kraftwerk track in the style of...another Kraftwerk track, examples: Do a version Computerliebe as if it was recorded for the Trans Europa Express album. Or do a version of Das Modell as if it was from the Radioactivitat album...

Another option for those not set on a style or for those wanting to do their track in another style,as many here are fans of classic synth albums. How about doing a Kraftwerk track in the style of a track from some of these examples:
Telekon Replicas Metamatic Dare Travelogue A Broken Frame Tin Drum Visage (the first self-titled album)

Spent a bit of time on Spacelab today. What a hoot Here's a snippet. MP3 sounds a bit dull but you get the gist. I may of course junk it and start again Edit: Snippet no longer online

Friggin A ! mate. Don't bin that, it sounds blo*dy excellent. Please finish it as I'd love to hear the complete version. I love kraftwerk but some of their stuff can sound a bit lifeless. This clip adds loads of life whilst keeping a good hint of the original vibe. I say again " A, A & Friggin A !" ;D

Please finish it as I'd love to hear the complete version. Thanks for that mate - I'd got to the stage where I was having so much fun I was disappearing up me own behind. Time to stop
