There's one for sale in the US. The shipping to the UK is between $400-600! I'll have to give that one a miss as the shipping will end up costing more than the synth! I wish I got into synths when I was a bit younger, would have cost less...

Synthman
Shipping is a lot less if you use surface carriers(Big boat) but takes about 6 weeks. I got an Odyssey over from Boston in the USA for £30.
That Poly is one of the last produced. A very late serial number with every update on it from the Factory.

But I suspect an Odyssey is significantly lighter than a Poly. I think the seller insists on UPS though.

also take into account that 6 weeks on a ship is a lot of jostling about....and the poly weighs around 80 lbs to the oddyseys 10 or 12...plus the pedals...im considering making a stab at that one and even here in the states it will be over 100 bucks to ship and thats via truck...its 2000 miles from where i sit (literally on the west coast....im looking at the ocean now)...a local dealer out here has a working polysynth for sale but im told he wants 1500+ for it and thats a bit much for such a delicate machine if you were going to ship it...i considered getting that other polysynth on ebay for parts but it appears to have been dropped or slammed in shipping so the damage could be monsterous....

Spoonz, do you know what carrier sent your ARP Odyssey to you?

Not sure but I think it was USPS. The Ody was 27 pounds including the flightcase.
Monger2 is right about the jostling though and it would need to be properly flightcased.
Also don't forget customs duty. It was about £50 on the Ody valued at £500. You could lie about the Polys value but then the insurance would only pay up to the declared value.
Buying in the Uk is more desirable but not always possible hence why my Ody came from Boston.

USPS have a weight limit of 70lbs. I suppose I could try bidding on it, and have it delivered to a friend in the US, but I'll still have to get it over here. $600 just to have it delivered is a lot of money! I can see this being a real headache for me, as I'm literally broke at the moment.

I think the 70lbs limit is for air freight but i'm not sure.
If your broke it might be prudent to wait for a more local one to come along.

I had a anvil roadcase built for mine by Anvil who are somewhat local...they still have the plans to build roadcases for Polymoogs, but it will run you around 350 dollars plus shipping..once i got a hold of a working poly i wasted no time having one made, but even so,a good bump can screw something up,case or not...hell,just sitting still can cause problems! however,in the long run its a good investment, even if you are not gigging with it (and who in their right mind would?)

If I had a Polymoog, I wouldn't gig with it unless I was being paid more than the synth is worth!

i agree on that...i think the polys are best reserved for staying at home! horrible things could happen at gigs to them...like this!http://www.mongerama.com/cuntrydisko/cd2.jpg

Marv
I bet the guy who purchased that poly is regretting it now.
They probably just got a qoute for £250 + to get it 100%.
We expected it to got for a lot less and were going to get it for spares.
