I had planned on developing using the VST SDK, which would mean that the application would run solely as a VST plugin. I'm not sure what the advantage would be of running standalone since VST hosts are so common today.
If there is enough interest in standalone operation, it could be provided. It would require, however, additional development time and effort.

I agree, I think a standalone application is unlikely. Given that so few of us would need one it would seem to be a lot of additional effort. I would prefer to just see this thing get off the ground to be honest ;D

Good Morning All! Ok, I guess I need to explain a little more what I was perviously yammering about with sampled sounds. What me and my engineer were rapping about was just some grand thoughts and ideas really, but, what we were considering once we had some other experiments under way and some "freed up time" we could look at creating samples of all of the instruments that we will have and create collections of these in software packages that could be DLS's that the user could get from our website. Then we thought that we could create our own controller synth that would have multiple "manual" control surfaces that were similar to the controls of the sampled instruments. Of course they would be assignable to user specific destinations as there would be instruments that are not synthesizers. Trombones could benefit form sliders that control pitch much like the shaft on the actual instrument, and also having sliders that are similar to that of, let's say, an ARP AXXE where you can control the instrument just the same as the real deal. That was what we were thinking about but, that will be some time off and to be honest, we are going to be busy for quite some time on other developments. If we were to do this we would whip up some prototype for the controller and then make our way to another licensing fair or NAMM show to find a company to license it to for them to create as we are not in the biz of manufacturing the units ourselves. However, the samples would be completed by us. And like I had mentioned before, this was external thinking of the over all projects that are going to be occurring and the controller idea was the external thinking of that. But not to worry, we will be conjuring up some works here soon and yes, we are changing the way music is learned and controlled. You'll have to think of music as colored architecture and geometry. Anyway, I hope I explained things a little better, I'm just now digging into the morning java and not fully awake yet so I could have just sputtered nonsense. I have some conferences for the studio build this week that I need to prepare for so I must go but I will rap with you gents soon.

Fingers (and toes ) crossed that the project bears fruit. I was rummaging through some of my old CDs and I came across an old CDR from way back entitled 'Numan mixes and Covers by Shaun Dubhead'. Is that you Shaun? I've no idea how this came into my posession, although, I have a vague memory that there was originally a letter that accompnied the CD. The first track is a Call Out The Dogs remix the next is a parody/mish-mash of Armand Van Helden's Koochy/Cars/AFE/We Are Glass/I'm An Agent. There are 15 tracks in total. I was just wondering. Colin

Fingers (and toes ) crossed that the project bears fruit. Ditto on that one Colin ;D I was rummaging through some of my old CDs and I came across an old CDR from way back entitled 'Numan mixes and Covers by Shaun Dubhead... Yes mate, I did the stuff you're talking about and I do operate as Dubhead but I've no memory of sending out a CD and I don't think I would have sent one out with a letter (although my flagging memory could be wrong). I did work with an agent for a few years when the CORE thing looked like it was going to happen so perhaps Julie sent it out to people? If she did, once again, I can't remember her doing it. Do you have a complete list of what's on the CD? I think it's more likely that it' was put together by someone else possibly? The stuff you mention seems to be around 5 years old or earlier (from my AFENet days). I was particularly guarded about releasing Numan covers until they were finished and the only CDRs I made up were for band members and close friends so this stuff may just be the things I put out on AFENet for covers competitions and the odd work in progress from the old CORE website. Things do have a way of getting around though. I was told a year or so back by my mate Gary Choppen that my track "Hollow" had been pressed up on a limited edition vinyl LP of Numan covers. I knew nothing about that either but I would have loved to have been sent a copy ;D

The other tracks on the cd are We Are So Fragile and the rest are mixes of Numan's Sacrifice album. Here's a pic of the cd, perhaps you may (or may not) recognise the writing - I'm pretty sure the cd came direct from yourself, I just don't remember the circumstances. Oh well.....my mind must be going

No Colin, it's MY mind that's going! #bergleblergle# That's my handwriting (albeit a little shaky). I honestly have no memory at all of sending you that CDR mate. That means we must have been in contact in the past. How did we get in contact originally? I wouldn't worry about blurring the email address though. I haven't used that in many years A bit like internet archaeology this one. Where's the time team when you need 'em?

Nope, I give up.....I still can't remember how and when our paths crossed in the past but obviously they did at some point. Oh well, it'll probably remain a mystery.
