Blast 2 good entries all ready and mine is only just off the ground. I'm gonna be last to get mine in again i bet.
For some reason Gavin's reminded me of Blondie Parallel Lines era but then i am a bit strange

Like that Gav - builds nicely - and even a key change at the end! Don't get enough key changes these days...

Well i have sort of done mine but i need some audience like Andy had if anyone can send me something.
any tips on mixing Shaun cos i think it could sound a whole lot cleaner with a tweak much like Neon lights did.
As to how Ultravox it is ??. sort of. Have you ever tried playing like Billy Currie., bloody hard. Billy says he always tried to make the Oddy play like his Viola cos that was his training so i sorta did the same. He also said he tried to F**k the keyboard but i think i just F**ked it up but hey ho anything should sound good after Martins Porn track.
I named it Ultraspocks cos your ears will look like his after u hear it and you might find cats suddenly appear on your patio

You will be immortalised by that track Martin. i'm keeping it in the mp3 player just because on random play it will come up one day and scare the shit out of me. Cheers for the crowd Andy ;D Ultraspocks coming to speakers near you soon.

Well here it is. Picture the scene. You've had a few beers :Pand are comfortably numb and Billy Currie took too many uppers when he did the intro. In you can get into that vibe then this just could be Ultravox. If not then it's me making a noise. Your Choice. UltraspocksAll done with custom patches except sequence on Imposcar for lead and cs80v for strings.

I'll buy that as ultravox ;D But i reckon Billy Currie would of gone slightly more OTT.

Like where you're going with that, but the lead is too dry. Doesn't sound like it's 'there'. Otherwise, great vibe Edit: I'm being too mild. It sounds really good Still needs a bit more room round the lead, but I'd be bouncing on my toes straining for a view of the stage by this point, for sure. Good work ;D

Likin the sounds on that Colin, you master of sound creation you Especialy like the low hum sound - atmos building, speaker breakin, ball scraping, bass drone - YEAH ! Maybe you could try adding some more reverb or flange or something to the lead line though, just to add some balls to the top end of that too ? Nice though mate ;D

I hear what your saying with the lead and i did experiment with different fx but nothing sat that well.
When i actually play the lead "live" the sound is so clear and ballsy and yet something gets lost in the recording process and i'm at a loss as to why. I had this problem with Neon Lights on the lead sound. My sound card is a new audigy and i'm using Adobe so it's tried and tested stuff. It really pissed me off that i couldn't translate the real sound into a recording.
I did try more portamento as well on the lead but went back to less in the end.

You prob don't want to hear this but I reckon it's got to be a real, played Ody...

You may well be right Andy.
The latency didn't help from my Yamaha to the pc albeit a very small latency. does get to be a pain when trying to play at speed.
I still think i have an issue with my recording setup somewhere though cos my Sh2000 sounded crap on Neon lights on the recording but sounded great as i played it for real.
Billy always played through a guitar amp into a mic not straight into a desk just to make it more difficult to get right.

That's weird about the recording process. You're using decent gear - I take it you're recording at 44.1 / 16 bit as a minimum? It is a bit of a nack, in any event. Sometimes you can get a sound that is fab on it's own and then drop it into a track and it sounds.... you get the idea :-)

Maybe that is the case with this sound. I have tweaked it a bit to try and give a bit more presence to it but not sure it added much.

HERES MINEI couldn't get it to sound like who i was aiming for so instead i spent time on trying to make it sound "live" I even drew on my own live experiences and added feedback If anyone can guess who i was supposed to be i will upload another early liquidscreamer rarity. #twisted#
