1275 - that makes it about October 1978. Looks a bit rough and what's with those slider caps on the octave balance? Could be a good project though ;D

Hadn't even noticed those slider caps. Wonder what it'll go for?

Like bloody busses these Polymoogs. Tch. Spotted the slider caps too. They're Roland Jupiter/Juno types I think. I'm rather digging the black/silver jobs on mine as it goes. Looks alright though this PMK - would have taken a punt not so long ago

Me thinks this could be our spares backup.
I will watch the bidding and if it is sensible I will try and grab it.
If anybody wants it real bad let me know and I won't compete.
I can see a home for a few bits already like the panel legend for Jordan.

I was thinking of grabbing it if the price is right. But I was hoping for something in good cosmetic condition etc with original sliders. That one looks as if its been used in a smoky environment. It also doesn't come with the stand or pedals, so I might give this one a miss.

It would be a shame to sacrifice 1275 but if it means getting Jordan's sorted, then that's a very good rerason. I think it's been in the wars but only when you get it on the bench will it be obvious whether its worth saving as is. In answer to your question Andy, yes... I will add it to the inventory (as I'm trying to do with all PM's that are bayed with SN's) but if it does become a donor, I'll mark it down as "retired" "I want more life... fucker"

I don't have the heart to break it up for spares.
I'm thinking more that I will fix it but then use it as a donor for parts and then once the faulty bits are sorted it becomes 100% again.
A working spares kit if you like.
It would be sacrilege if it never sang again.
Synthman.
The yellowing is due to sunlight. If yellows the front panel if the unit is by a window in direct sunlight over time. It can't be cleaned off beacuse the white is sandwiched inside the plastic overlay.
My guess at the faults are voltage rail missing from the Psu and some of our friends the good old Dividers. Maybe a modulator or 2

How much do you think it will go for? And how easy is it to obtain new parts, how much do they cost, and how simple is it to fit them?

Well the price is already up to £255 and It looks set to get to £400 ish I think.
It seems Polymoog Keyboards have suddenly developed a bit more of a Following according to Adrian at Synthrestore.
Most parts are available and most are easy to fit, but knowing what is at fault is the tricky bit. The circuitry is quite complicated and without some knowledge and service documents you would have a hard time.
Many parts require a recalibration if replaced especially if it's Osc based.
If you did it yourself you might get the whole thing done for £30.
It is already out of reach as a spares backup for us so if you fancy it go for it.
I was offered £1200 a while back for mine with legs and pedals which I thought the guy was taking the piss over but Adrian reckons that is now realistic.
Kevin Lightner has sold a synth 203a version for over $2000 recently.

I would be prepared to pay over £1500 for a good one.

At £400 already Looks like I can make a few quick readies here Col (Kidding!) Why on earth the sudden interest in an imensely flakey one-trick-pony though? Downright weird.

Jordan
It must be tempting for many people who have old Polys to sell when they see the price even a tatty one can fetch.
I spoke to Richard Lawson of Rl Music who is a broker for Analogs at synthrestore once and he reckoned that he suddenly got enquiries about Polys after the sugerbabes thing and the general interest in Numans early stuff again. He sold one 203a that fell apart in transit (Been there) and vowed never to sell one again.
It seems the trend is for Mini prices to fall and Poly prices to rise.
A good Mini could fetch £1700 + not long ago but not anymore.
You could buy a dead Poly for £100 2 years ago.
I also see Shauns and my buddy (not) the backout seller of the year has bid for the Poly. Hope he doesn't get it.
The price this one is fetching makes me think Shaun had a right result with his which is in very good nick.

Synthman.
If you are prepared to pay that sort of money then you can buy a dead one and add legs and pedals and generally tidy it up as the parts come along.
Getting a really clean working one with legs and pedals is unlikely. As far as I know I am the only one who has all 3 at the moment.
Tempting though £1500 is and I must be bloody raving barking mad I am in love with it. It makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck every time Vox Humana blasts out at me.
Don't be frightened to get a fixer upper. Just be sensible about what you pay for it.
And be warned they don't travel well, so it's home use only really. They can be finickity at times although mine has been fault free for 2 years but if you love that sound then nothing else can do it period.

I think I better quit while I'm ahead. I don't think I was meant to have a Polymoog Keyboard.
I did speak to Richard Lawson about obtaining one, he said he'll let me know.

Interesting developments on the Polymoog front then. I have to be honest and say I wouldn't flog mine now no matter what I was offered. I really mean that. It took me 26 years of longing to get one and I'm over the moon with my PMK (or more precisely - Vox Humana on tap). My only concern is keeping her going for another 26 years but she's being well looked after Definately a fanatics synth. Totally unique and in many ways, the owners are very similar to vintage car enthusiasts. Polymoogs look and sound lovely but there's a lot of care an attention required to make them gleam on show day.

'The seller ended this listing early to sell to the high bidder(s) at current bid price.' Must have got his gas bill this morning The 280a's star seems to be in the ascendent at the moment. Wanted ads all over the gig, prices going up. Strange times we live in...
